This college participated in the NURI program organized by the Ministry of Education & Human Resources in 2004, and has been participating in a Higher Education Capacity Building Project since 2004 and a Leading Industry Education Project since 2009. We have provided a more productive and creative education through industry and university cooperation and have successfully attracted about 20 centers including ABEEK, NURI, CUBI and a Techno Center equipped with production equipment, quality education, exhibition space, and business incubators. Thus, we have been providing opportunities for industry to improve its technological power and for university to provide a practical education.
Department of Architectural Engineering of Chosun University is one of the five departments established for the first time in the College of Engineering simultaneously with the establishment of Chosun University in 1946, and is a department with 70 years of long history and tradition of cultivating architectural engineers who leads national and regional construction. While dividing architectural engineering (4 years) that intends to cultivate architectural engineers and architectural major (5 years) that intends to cultivate architects and retaining the organization of department of architecture in order to fulfill the diversified social demands since 2002, from 2020, we are implementing architectural engineering education suitable for international level by reorganizing into the department of architectural engineering and the department of architecture respectively, and we are operating undergraduate course and graduate course for cultivating professional architect personnel through creative educational system equipped with theory and practical business, network formation of research fields, establishment of industrial-educational network, reinforcement of international capability and employment support in accordance with the characteristic by majors of architectural engineering in detail.
For education goal, we are focusing on cultivating creative architectural talents. in a situation where the world advances through competition in all fields, architectural field cannot win in such competitions without creativity. In addition, we are focusing on cultivating architectural experts necessary for the nation and society as talents who are fully competent and strong in leadership are required to lead the future society. Furthermore, we are focusing on cultivating international qualified architects and architectural engineers equipped with international competitiveness as creative talents equipped with responsibility and reliability along with global perspective and behavior are necessary to advance into the world.

Photonics studies how to effectively use light for industry. Present photonics technology has become an area of advanced sciences which has changed our lives significantly. Industrial Engineering is a multidisciplinary science merging engineering management, engineering, and social sciences. The Themes of industrial engineering are directly connected with the real economy and field management and as the methodologies used are so diversified, industrial engineers have to analyse problems presented in an organized way and find general solutions. To enhance the ability to deal with the enormous and complex problems, we help students understand theories in mathematics, statistics, management science, computer engineering, business management, and economics, acquire experimental and practical engineering technologies through practice, design, and manufacturing, and analyse real problems and develop real alternatives.

Department of Welding and Joining Science Engineering as the first domestic newly established department is the only domestic single department and cultivates leaders that will lead the global era through specialized course of study of welding·joining which is the core (root) technology that forms the foundation of all industries. We implement customized course of education that responds to the technology demand of educational industry field customized for demanding corporate and efficient industrial-educational cooperation education (internship, filed education) utilizing established latest equipment (1000 pyeong sized laboratory and 50 kinds of experiment equipment, the amount corresponding to 6 billion won). By organizing international program course that certifies international certified certificate by the International Institute of Welding, IIW, students can acquire IWE certification simultaneous upon graduation. For outstanding students benefiting from scholarship given by the department, industrial special scholarship benefits supported by industries (steel, electronic, shipbuilding, etc.) and student supporting program independently by the department such as graduate school support are provided.
This department aims to nurture competent engineers in nuclear energy with practical skills and technological ethics. For this purpose, we have opened a liberal arts program, a basic major program, and an intensive major program to achieve the goal. We have agreements with industry, university, and research cooperatives with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power CO. LTD., Yeonggwang KHNP, Korean Atomic Energy Research Institute for joint education and research based on industry, university, and research cooperation. Also we have industry and university cooperation programs such as the field study program or internship programs with other nuclear energy companies.

Material Science and Engineering is a study that forms the foundation of domestic industry and its importance is increasing. International industry competitiveness based on domestic manufacturing represented by semiconductor, electronic, automobile, and steel industry, etc. comes from the competitiveness of materials industry. Department of Materials Science and Engineering will have students learn basic knowledge regarding the academic field such as semiconductor materials, electronic materials, metallic materials, ceramic materials, energy materials, etc. from the undergraduate course and specific application field can be enumerated by steel, ceramic and semiconductor industry, optical electronics industry, energy industry, bio industry, etc. The Department of Materials and Engineering was nominated as an outstanding specialized department by the Ministry of Education for funding project on local university and has been supported with government financial support of half a billion dollars and half of all the students are acquiring scholarships, and are operating a systematic education focused on cultivating global mind, job matching, site research, filed trip to exhibitions, industry internship, etc. including foreign student selection, foreign field trip, toeic military academy, etc. The department of Materials Science and Engineering are inducing undergraduates to establish more various knowledge systems as expectation and demand of the society are changing in accordance with the change of time, and are cultivating competent and creative material engineering talents with equipped with practical capabilities to acquire cutting edge knowledge and information, who can actively cope with drastically changing industrial environment, and who can fulfill the international era.

The educational objective of this department aims to cultivate smart vehicle system engineering field majors and engineers with outstanding abilities through the highest level of course of education and environment with the purpose of cultivating talents that contribute to the academic research related to ship marine, aerospace, and automotive engineering and development of smart vehicle system of our country. In order to increase the quality of practical education, we are reinforcing industrial-educational related education, drastically increased computation education to adapt to the information communication society, and we are seeking quality than quantity of engineering education utilizing the cutting edge laboratory facilities including the circulating water channel, wind tunnel laboratory, autonomous car realization laboratory, etc. Moreover, we are cultivating basic quality that can create new technology and theory even after employment by consolidating education regarding basic courses such as mathematics and basic dynamics. 12 professors are composed of scholars mostly equipped with practical business experience of an average of more than 10 years from the industrial sites, more than 80% of the faculty completed master’s·doctoral degree from famous foreign universities and are participating in numerous inside and outside projects with numerous undergraduate and graduate students and implementing continuous research of application technology. The educational objective of this department aims to reinforce industrial competitiveness and lead future advanced concept and technology creating high value-added business with the purpose of cultivating professional talents based on practical study in preparation for the 4th future industrial structure of smart vehicle system engineering field (ship marine, aerospace, automotive). Division of Mechanical System and Automotive Engineering
This department aims to cultivate professional technical personnel with outstanding creative problem-solving ability so that they can contribute to the nation’s industrial development by acquiring professional engineering knowledge that must be equipped by an engineer from basic design and development to manufacturing process in mechanical system future automotive field. The Mechanical System Engineering Major faithfully educates basic dynamics such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, material dynamics, kinetics, etc. and strengthens education in major courses such as 3-dimensional design, precise measurement system, automation system, control system, equipment system, robot system, etc. and educates from initial designing to system automation and integration technology through project lectures. The Future Automotive Engineering Major strengthens design education such as communication, fuel cell, hydrogen, new and renewable energy based on mechanic and electrical·electronic engineering to fulfill the new paradigm of future automotive, and educate not only existing automotive field such as body, engine, transmission, etc. but also convergence technology of future automotive field such as electric automobile, fuel cell electric vehicle, hydrogen fueled vehicles, etc.

We are organizing major courses that must be equipped as an engineer of aerospace to keep step with the global era such as aerodynamics, structural mechanics, propulsion engineering, flight control, satellite system, etc. and are operating structure materials laboratories, computational fluid dynamics laboratories, flight control laboratories, combustion propulsion laboratories, space technology convergence laboratories, navigation control laboratories to implement students’ experiment, practice and research. In addition, we are operating the nation’s largest size supersonic speed/hypersonic speed wind tunnel and all sorts of laboratory facilities for students’ education and research.
