중앙도서관, Global Bookscape Lounge 오픈

조선대학교 중앙도서관은 외국인 유학생을 위한 전용 도서 열람 공간

‘Global Bookscape Lounge’를 새롭게 조성하고, 중앙도서관 5층에 문을 열었다.

Global Bookscape Lounge는

대학혁신지원사업의 일환으로 마련된 공간으로

우리 대학에서 학업을 이어가고 있는 다양한 국적의 외국인 유학생들이

중앙도서관을 보다 편안하게 이용할 수 있도록 마련됐다.

기존 한국어 중심의 자료 구성과 학습 위주의 열람 환경에서 느낄 수 있었던

이용 부담을 줄이고, 유학생 친화적인 독서 환경을 제공하는 것이 목적이다.

서가에는 중국, 베트남, 몽골, 우즈베키스탄, 일본 5개 국가의 주요 유학생 국적을

고려한 도서가 비치되어 있으며, 외국인 유학생들의 희망 도서와

각 국가의 인기 도서를 중심으로 구성되었다.

Global Bookscape Lounge는 ‘다문화 도서가 있는 풍경(Book + Scape)’이라는 의미를 담은 공간으로 자국어 도서를 담은 서가와 라운지형 가구를 배치해

공부와 휴식을 동시에 누릴 수 있는 열린 공간으로 조성됐다.

단순한 열람실을 넘어 외국인 유학생들이 도서관을 보다 친근하게 느끼고 머무를 수 있는 공간을 지향한다.

중앙도서관은 이번 Global Bookscape Lounge 조성을 통해

공간·자료·안내·프로그램을 연계한 외국인 유학생 맞춤형 도서관 서비스 기반을

마련하고, 앞으로도 유학생들이 도서관을 일상 속에서

자연스럽게 이용할 수 있도록 지속적인 개선과 지원을 이어갈 계획이다.

Central Library Opens Global Bookscape Lounge

Chosun University Library has opened a new dedicated reading space for international students, the ‘Global Bookscape Lounge’, located on the 5th floor of the Central Library.

The ‘Global Bookscape Lounge’ was established as part of the University Innovation Support Project. It was designed to help international students from diverse backgrounds feel more comfortable using the Central Library. The space aims to reduce barriers caused by Korean-language–centered collections and traditional study-focused environments, while offering a more welcoming and student-friendly reading experience.

The bookshelves feature titles from five countries—China, Vietnam, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, and Japan—reflecting the major nationalities of international students at the university. The collection is composed of student-requested titles as well as popular and bestselling books from each country.

The name ‘Global Bookscape Lounge’ combines the words Book and Scape, meaning “a landscape of multicultural books.” With bookshelves filled with native-language materials and lounge-style furniture, the space was designed as an open environment where students can both study and relax. Beyond a traditional reading room, it offers a place where international students can feel at ease and enjoy spending time in the library.

Through the establishment of the ‘Global Bookscape Lounge’, the Central Library aims to build an integrated service framework for international students by connecting space, collections, guidance, and programs. The library plans to continue improving and expanding its services so that international students can naturally incorporate the library into their everyday campus life.
